In winter 2019, I worked with Bobab - a social enterprise with an online community dedicated to accelerating scientific and technological development in Africa.
Bobab hosts exciting live-streamed events, promotes innovative projects, and enhances collaboration between professionals in the industry.
To kick off the project I facilitated a workshop inside Bobab’s London office. During the session we covered what the vision for the product was, and how it would fit within the wider objectives of the organisation. We also identified how the project would sit alongside other strands of work - including the visual identity I was also tasked with designing.
I worked collaboratively with the Bobab team to design concepts for the visual identity. The winning idea used the 3x letter B’s in the name Bobab to create the distinctive branches of a Boabab tree.
I used user research insights to design the wireframes of the Bobab digital platform. These helped to create a shared vision about how the digital product could work. After a few iterations of the wireframes I created some clickable prototypes to test with users.
I then developed the front end of the website in code ahead of Bobab's first event in March 2019.
Using the platform, Bobab has hosted a series of successful events - bringing experts from around the world together to identify, connect and explore the challenges and opportunities defining development in Africa today.
